The Story Behind Okavango 4x4
Ever since I was a little boy, I’ve been in love with 4x4s. I remember watching Johan Badenhorst, the “Oom van Voetspore,” tackle the trails, and I was mesmerized. There was something about the adventure, the challenge, and the freedom of exploring Africa that captured my heart — and it hasn’t let go since.
Starting Okavango 4×4 Fitment Centre wasn’t easy. In fact, it began during the last stages of lockdown — a time when building a business in a small town like Bela-Bela felt almost impossible. But I refused to give up. I poured my heart, my sweat, and all my energy into creating something I could be proud of. Today, we have a proper store front, a workshop for expert 4×4 fitments, and even take people on adventures across Africa.
For me, working on 4x4s isn’t just a job — it’s a passion. It truly feels like playing with toys, even though I know it’s not always playtime. There’s a lot of hard work, attention to detail, and late nights involved in making sure every fitment is perfect. But at the end of the day, seeing someone hit the trail with their vehicle upgraded and ready for adventure makes it all worth it.
I feel incredibly blessed to do what I love every day, and I’m excited to share that passion with every person who walks through our doors. Okavango 4×4 is more than a business — it’s my dream come true, and I hope it becomes part of your adventure too.
